The Boise Basketball Learning Society will be meeting inside Edge Sports Academy at 5470 W State St.
Boise, ID 83703The Gem Prep Learning Society Leader is a unique role. Leaders support and coach a group of 20-40 students in their coursework through Gem Prep Online. They also serve as the primary support and coach for paraprofessionals (depending on enrollment) under their supervision. As enrollment grows, Gem Prep anticipates hiring a paraprofessional as further support for Learning Society students.They will be responsible for helping middle school and high school scholars be successful in their classes, including practicing and completing assignments, all while creating a safe and positive learning environment.
The Learning Society Leader must be committed to strong student outcomes and nurture educational excellence in a non-traditional learning environment. They will work closely with Gem Prep Online teachers and parents to ensure scholars are able to complete their work in a timely and successful manner.***Please note this is a position for the 25-26 school year.***Qualifications and Wages for Learning Society LeadersTeacher certification is required.Preference will be given to secondary licensed teachers in Math, English, or Science.Certified teachers will be paid on the Gem Prep teacher pay scale.Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.Act as a liaison between Edge Sports Academy leaders and Gem Prep.Create and modify (as necessary) daily routines and structures that promote academic excellence and the development of key competencies in each scholar.Typical day will consist of supporting students from 7:30 - 12:30 in live lessons and coursework. 12:30 - 4:00 will consist of supporting students in small group interventions, one-on-one tutoring, working with parents, and other duties.
(Schedule is subject to change)Support Edge Sports Academy parents and scholars and answer academic related questionsBe able to provide one-on-one support to secondary students in core content areasWork under the direct supervision of the Learning Society AdministratorHelp establish a culture of academics over athletics among families and students within the Edge Sports AcademyCapable of fulfilling all staff roles within the LS, the leader will step in as staff substitute or additional support for either of the LSs, as necessary.Work with the Learning Societies Administrator to create and follow a daily schedule that accommodates families and facilitates academic success.Provide academic feedback to Gem Prep Online teachers for students' strengths and weaknessesProvide a safe learning environment in a Gem Prep Online spaceIf applicable - Coach and support Learning Society Partner Teachers through weekly one-on-one coaching sessionsServe as the first line of communication between parents and the learning society. The first person responsible for behavior management and discipline within the Learning Society siteUnder the direction of the school administrator, the LS leader is responsible for leading the marketing efforts on-the-ground to ensure full capacity in the LS.Ensure documentation and records are up to date and kept secure; including but not limited to daily attendance, allergy records, academic progress records, etc.Present professional development opportunities to paraprofessionalsOther duties as assigned.Additional InformationThis is a pilot program so there will be changes throughout the year to promote scholar success. The ideal candidate will be flexible, a self-starter, and not afraid to ask questions.
