ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an Accountant, Invoice Review to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory ! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico with hybrid flexibility. This role is anticipated to be short-term (around 4 months) with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
- Ensure operational excellence and financial accountability.
- Provide support services (as part of the invoice review team) on the purchase of products and services to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
- Be driven by integrity, innovation, and collaboration, and continuously strive for world-class financial operations that align with LANL's broader goals.
- Work with the Controller Disbursements (CNTL-DISB) Group and support the group mission by :
reviewing and processing subcontractor invoices to ensure costs are paid in accordance with the subcontract requirements of moderate complexity;
providing invoice review services that include verification that costs are accurate, properly supported and otherwise allowable; andcommunicating with subcontractors, subcontract specialists, project managers and technical requesters to discuss / resolve invoice and payment issues.Offer efficient, transparent financial solutions across areas such as accounting, compliance, payroll, benefits, institutional tax, retirement, travel, disbursements, financial reporting, corporate accounting, and business systems.Requirements
Education & Years of Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business and 2 years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Citizenship - To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.Clearance - To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.Demonstrated experience working with contracts and subcontracts processes and requirements.Demonstrated knowledge of various contract types including time and materials, labor hours and cost reimbursement.Knowledge in identifying performance deficiencies and recommending strategies, procedures, and implementing, improving and enhancing functionality.Knowledge and experience in accounting, accounts payable bookkeeping or similar.Knowledge of the application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Knowledge of interpretation and application of financial policies and procedures and performing self-assessments.Knowledge of governmental financial accounting, in accordance to federal laws governing accounting procedures and systems.Knowledge and experience researching, gathering, analyzing data, summarizing results, resolving problems and issues both independently and as a team member.Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining excellent organization and prioritization with proven ability to follow through completion on multiple tasks, often under strict deadlines, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities.Demonstrated ability in providing strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Proven ability in effectively working within a team environment and interacting and networking with all levels of internal and external personnel and customers.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated proficient use of computer software applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).Desired Skills
ERP experience using SAP and Oracle, preferredMaster's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or universityExperience working with procurement, contracts, and subcontracts processes and requirements.Demonstrated knowledge of various contract types including time and materials, labor hours and cost reimbursement.Knowledge of governmental financial accounting, in accordance with federal laws governing accounting procedures and systems.About the Site
