ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Radiation Protection SME to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Responsibilities
Manages daily tasks required to perform ongoing support of design, construction, startup and/or operations/ maintenance activities of complex high hazard systems or projects.
Renders expert opinions towards Radiation Protection and technical issues, provides recommendations to project design and construction teams in specific areas of expertise.
Provides independent reviews and assessments in areas of specialized expertise and provides guidance to project teams in delivering results on projects of complex, high- technology nature.
Interfaces with management personnel and customer representatives.
Develops and enforces work standards, assigns schedules, reviews work quality, communicates goals, objectives, and policies of the organization to subordinates.
Provides leadership for the radiation protection team, coordinates with the functional organizations, and supervises senior personnel within the project organization.
Requirements
Education & Years of Experience – Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Business Management and 5 years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work
Clearance – To be considered, you must have an active or very recently active DOE “Q” Clearance or DoD “Top Secret” Clearance
Must have DOE experience, preferably within a Plutonium Facility.
Must have experience in CAT II nuclear facility.
Must have experience with alpha contamination.
Must have documented experience providing radiation protection training.
Must have leadership and mentoring skills.

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
