Job Summary :
The tax manager position is responsible for the oversight of all income, personal property, sales, and business taxes for all legal entities within the structure, including continued research of all relevant federal and state tax laws and their applicability to the entire structure and maintaining the relationship with ten US and international CPA firms.
Responsibilities :
- The tax manager position is responsible for the oversight of all income, personal property, sales, and business taxes for all legal entities within the structure, including continued research of all relevant federal and state tax laws and their applicability to the entire structure.
- Maintaining relationships with US and international CPA firms.
- Providing all required information for preparation of filings prepared by CPA firms and reviewing those filings, ensuring consistent tax treatment among all CPA firms on matters affecting all legal entities.
- Coordinate all cost segregation engagements and record all assets appropriately within the accounting system for both tax and book purposes.
- Determine appropriate capitalization or expensing treatment of all assets for both tax and book purposes; review all capitalization within the accounting system.
- Consulting with both CPA firms and management on tax-related matters, including tax consequences of business decisions and structuring.
- Reviewing calculations and making estimated payments of the various taxes
- Filing informational returns; providing tax provision calculations of corporate investors where required.
- Maintaining good legal standing for all legal entities.
- Assisting legal with closing out legal entities in all relevant states when appropriate.
- Maintaining the qualification of REIT entities.
- Advise on the tax implications of sales for both internal entities and outside investors.
- Managing and resolving any issues arising from any of these filings.
- Providing tax-related information to outside investors and internal personnel.
- Responsible for preparation and distribution of all Schedules and Forms 1042S and answering questions related to these forms; calculation of all withholding from investor distributions or entity holdbacks.
- Management company escrow accounts for closing entities.
- Managing payments and receipts recording for closing entities.
- Managing unclaimed property and required escheatment filings.
- Filing any required tax filing classification forms.
- Maintain all tax-related software used by the company.
Requirements :
Minimum 5 years of tax experience.
Strong analytical skills and comfortable utilizing different software systems.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or Certified Treasury Professional accreditation.
Real estate experience and knowledge of Yardi Voyager are a plus, but not necessary.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Able to deal effectively with multiple priorities.
Exercise a high degree of independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide two or more options for problem-solving.
