Job Summary
Work as a part of a team or as a single worker to complete Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) and flagging operations.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in set up and break down of Temporary Traffic Control operations.
- Install, maintain, and disassemble Temporary Traffic Control devices.
- Ability to read and understand Temporary Traffic Control/Construction and Maintenance documents.
- Complete required training & certification programs.
- Operates all makes of equipment approved by management.
- Inspection, maintenance & assist in making repairs to Temporary Traffic Control devices and other similar equipment.
- Operates hand tools.
- Perform work in accordance with the Michigan Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MMUTCD).
- Participate in meetings.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including weekend and on-call schedule.
- Other similar tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent, good knowledge of some practical mechanical principles involved in the operation of machine and automotive equipment, a thorough knowledge of the use of hand tools, must have a driver’s license, a year of Temporary Traffic Control operations or equivalent, professional interpersonal skills, must demonstrate the aptitude and capacity to progress to higher rated jobs and successfully pass a Fitness for Duty Test.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to lift 40 pounds, bend, stoop, work extended hours, occasionally operate motor vehicles for extended periods.
PREFERRED SKILLS
Alert in observing for hazards, Safe Worker, Attention to Detail, Time Management, Traffic Control and Communication, ability to stand for extended periods of time daily (i.e. 4 – 8 hours).
