Gen Re currently offers an excellent opportunity for a Property and Casualty Claims Specialist to work in North America P&C Operations based in our Stamford office. This is a hybrid role.
Role Description
As an integral part of PCNA Operations the P&C Claims Specialist serves as a key connector between the client and the Gen Re Claim Executives. The role, focusing on Property and Casualty claims, encompasses a wide range of activities, including reviewing client submissions for potential claim reimbursement, system input, scheduling payments and data analysis and reconciliation.
We are seeking a candidate with a minimum 5 years of experience in processing claims. The ideal candidate will work well independently, but also enjoys working as a part of our team. Position responsibilities include the following:
- Review incoming claim documents to identify appropriate Treaty and/or Facultative reinsurance coverage. Creation of the claim; processing loss/expense payments, updating loss/expense reserves, monitoring annual aggregates, and reinstatement calculations within the GRC systems.
- Maintain the electronic claim file in compliance with documented and agreed claims procedures and corporate retention policies.
- Collaborate daily with the Gen Re Claims Department and other internal clients, such as Underwriting, Marketing and Senior Management as needed.
- Communicate with ceding companies to request additional claim information, notify appropriate contacts of claim payments and reconcile accounts as needed.
- Manage high volume of transactions in compliance with department standards.
- Identify and escalate important issues to Department Management and other applicable stakeholders.
- Suggest potential improvements to claims processes.
Role Qualifications and Experience
- Interpret reinsurance agreements to identify potential coverage.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and math/ accounting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience in Power BI a plus.
- Competent in SAP (FS-RI) or other claims processing programs.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously (work queues, etc.) within tight timeframes.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Work effectively with all levels of management.
- Use personal initiative to work independently with limited supervision.
- Willingness to engage in new activities beyond claims processing, such as system conversions and client reconciliations.
- Enjoys collaborative team environments and learning new challenges.
- Identify potential improvements to claims processes.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in processing reinsurance claims, with a preference for individuals with Property and Casualty experience.
- Familiar with reinsurance/insurance claim terminology.
- Experience handling a large volume of claims (average 300 transactions per month.)
- College education or 3 – 5 years equivalent experience.
Salary Range
91,000.00 - 152,000.00 USDThe annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the US and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training.
