Our skilled staff apply creative thinking and offer community resources to help individuals learn the skills necessary to live in the community in an independent, productive, and participatory manner.
Gene Cook Supports, LLC. is seeking Community Support Specialists to work with our clients in Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties.
The primary functions of the Direct Support Professional are:
- Provide up to 40 hours of direct and indirect community participation support.
- Assist individuals in developing skills as outlined in their individual support plans.
- Facilitate participation in community activities, organizations, and clubs to strengthen social networks.
- Plan and coordinate activities that promote competitive integrated employment skills and meaningful community involvement.
- Complete quarterly reports and daily service notes per company policy.
**Required Skills and Qualifications: **
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid Driver’s License, with valid vehicle registration and insurance.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse populations.
- Successfully pass background checks (criminal history, child abuse, FBI) within required timeframes.
- Completion of ODP-approved training on Community Participation Support within 60 days of hire.
