Equipment Operator (Trackhoe)

Job Summary:

We are looking for an Trackhoe Operator whose primary function will be to assist a pipe crew in their capacity (trenches, pipe, backfilling). The Operator will maintain and operate excavating and loading equipment, assist on the ground when needed (This position excludes forklifts as qualifying equipment).

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Operates excavating and loading equipment and heavy machinery including excavators, power shovels, stripping shovels, scraper loaders, and backhoes.
• Effectively completes excavation and related tasks such as backfilling excavations and breaking concrete or rock using appropriate equipment.
• Conducts routine inspections before operating equipment to identify needed maintenance or repairs.
• Requests necessary repairs and adjustments to equipment.
• Consults digging plans, machine specifications, and safety procedures for specific tasks.
• Ensures work is completed to specification by observing grade stakes, material levels, hand signals, and other markers.
• Transports materials around job sites, factories, or warehouses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to operate heavy machinery.
• Knowledge of excavation procedures and techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions and read excavation plans.
• Ability to complete safety awareness training.
• Excellent mechanical and problem-solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience required.
• Prefer experience with GPS operated machines.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to complete physically demanding work.
• Able to lift and carry heavy objects.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
