What are the responsibilities and job description for the Molecular Laboratory Technician position at GeneID Lab Advanced Molecular Diagnostics?
About Us:
- GeneID is a high complexity molecular Next Generation Sequencing laboratory providing a variety of molecular testing. The laboratory technologist under the direction of the supervisors will be responsible for day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities:
- Follows laboratory established procedures and performs a variety of molecular procedures including but not limited to DNA quantification, Library preparation, Real time PCR, and Sanger sequencing.
- Assist in all phases of technical laboratory services
- Maintains records per SOPs
- Participate in the Proficiency Testing Program and inspections, as assigned.
- Learn and perform sample preparation for high complexity testing
- Prepare samples and reagents for testing according to laboratory policies
- Familiarity with high through-put platforms and common molecular laboratory equipment (pipettes, thermocyclers, liquid handlers, etc.).
- Experience with ensuring and maintaining integrity and quality of the lab (sample processing, equipment, SOPs).
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Power Point.
- Well organized.
- Adhere to laboratory’s quality control and safety policies.
- Excellent communication skills
Minimum qualifications:
- At a minimum, Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology or associate degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology program.
- Familiar with NGS sequencing
- Excellent pipetting skills
- Must be able to independently perform research.
- Good communications skills.
- Familiarity with CAP/ CLIA regulations for high complexity laboratories
Job Type: Full-time , M-F
