Generac Clean Energy Solutions (GCES) is on a mission to drive down global carbon emissions through the manufacture and sale of renewable energy production and storage technologies. GCES is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer Level II to contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the system that controls and monitors device in renewable energy production and storage solutions deployed to residential sites.
In this role you will be part of a team developing and testing power generation control systems that can be remotely controlled and monitored using web and mobile technology solutions. You will be involved in the design and development of innovative software systems that are web enabled embedded real time control systems that provide electrical power generation.
This role is located onsite at the Engineering Center of Excellence in Reno, NV.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software applications to control or monitor residential energy storage systems (ESS)
- Contribute to the system gateway code base (Rust, Python, and Yocto)
- Implement system/end-to-end tests to exercise changes
- Represent your features with internal and external stakeholders
Minimal Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline
- 2 years overall experience
- Experience in design and implementation of software applications in a professional context.
- Familiarity with edge device firmware application implementation using Rust or C or C ,
Preferred Qualifications:
- MQTT or CAN and Protocol buffers
- Embedded Linux Platform experience
- Worked with a wide variety of modern and emerging technologies.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and related technologies (e.g. CircleCI or Jenkins)
