About the Role:
We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Metal Lab Technician to join our manufacturing team on second shift. This role is vital in maintaining quality standards by conducting various inspections, analyses, and testing processes on materials used in our production environment. Key Responsibilities:
· Inspect incoming aluminum ingots, sows, and master alloys.
· Execute alloying additions to furnaces, ensuring the daily addition forms are accurately maintained.
· Conduct Brinell hardness tests, including calibration and operation.
· Perform specific gravity testing for gas.
· Monitor and replace metal temperature chart recorders on furnaces.
· Prepare material samples for analysis by Corporate Metallurgy and Lab.
· Operate and master spectrograph equipment for chemistry analysis of ingots and in-process coupons.
· Record, communicate, and file all test results accurately.
· Apply basic statistical concepts to testing and inspection.
· Maintain awareness of safety, quality, and environmental standards.
· Ensure effective communication of key events and information to support continuity in safety, quality, and productivity.
Qualifications:
· Experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment preferred.
· Understanding of metallurgical testing methods and tools (Brinell Hardness, Spectrograph, etc.) preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Familiarity with statistical analysis and quality control processes.
· Excellent documentation and communication skills.
· Ability to follow procedures precisely and understand the implications of deviation.
Working Conditions & Environment:
· Manufacturing and laboratory environment.
· Exposure to heat, noise, and metalworking materials.
· Use of PPE required.
· Standing for long periods and lifting 50 lbs. as needed.
· This is for a position on 2nd shift, from the hours of 2pm to 10pm.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 48 per week
