Job purpose
Quality Technician is responsible for inspecting, auditing and ensuring all associates are properly following all quality procedures. This position is also responsible for controlling and monitoring quality in real time situations.
Duties and responsibilities
· Safety – Including, but not limited to, PPE, Lathe, Argon gas, Chemicals Lab & Other Equipment
· Work Instruction / Job Description / Quality Documentation – Location, read and comprehend your Job Description, all forms and procedures associated with Quality, and relative to you job.
· Customer Specifications – Comprehend Specifications and know where to get them.
· Defect Recognition – Shall have training and know how to apply them.
· Basic Gage use – Know how to handle and use any Quality gages, included, but not limited to Calipers, Mics, Warp gages, Rulers, Height gages, etc
· X-ray per part number specific requirements, and communicate results to operators and supervisors.
· In-process and final audit Inspections – Log Parts, Inspection of parts, Appropriate Paperwork associated with Inspections, Proper communication with Production Floor.
· Spectrometer Chemistry – Use of the correct program, Calibration, Data Entry, Burning Coupons, Recording Appropriate Data, Understanding the Data Reports and what they are saying.
· Density Checks-pulling, weighing and recording results per specific part requirement.
· Receiving Metal – Able to validate proper associated paperwork, sign out coupons, turn coupons on Lathe, test samples, Complete appropriate paperwork, Understand releases / reaction procedures, file proper paperwork.
·Daily MRB review of suspect material.
· Dock Audit – Know how to record container in the Dock Audit Log, understand visual defects, able to verify appropriate labelling, use of appropriate Inspection & Measuring devices, as needed.
·Permeability, dye penetrant, and liquid penetrant testing as required.
Other duties as assigned by Quality Lead Tech / Quality Manager
Working conditions and environment
Extensive exposure to foundry/manufacturing environment with exposure to high noise, heat, hazards moving equipment, and molten metal. Use of protective equipment to protect eyes, feet, ears and potential burn areas are required.
Normal equipment used
Computers, Telephone, Printer, Electronic Scales, Manual pallet jack, spectrometer, lathe, calipers, rulers, service carts and small hand tools.
