Under minimal supervision this position is responsible for inspecting a wide variety of parts, assemblies, tooling fixtures and material to ensure compliance with customer requirements, company specifications and quality requirements. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspects machined and electrical parts, components, assemblies and materials to ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory guidelines (Military Standards, ASTM and ANSI, and ASME Code). Provides various electronic and hard copy reports of inspections and notifies appropriate parties including project engineers.
- Maintains calibrated tools/test equipment and schedules service and repair of equipment. Prepares, updates and maintains calibration computer databases.
- Performs and documents receiving inspection for materials and components. Maintains a computer database with supporting Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).
- Initiates nonconformance reports or Quality Notifications.
- Performs First Article Inspections IAW AS9100.
- May observe testing and provide oversight, as necessary, to verify compliance with requirements.
- May interact with and provide responses to regulatory agencies and customers during their audits and review of company inspection and calibration activities.
- Verifies quality in accordance standards, processes, procedures and contractual requirements.
- May coordinate the procurement of standard materials, services and parts for inspections.
- Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Job Qualifications:
- Typically requires an associate's degree, trade school certificate, military training, or equivalent in quality inspections or certification by a professional group such as ASQ or AWS, and five or more years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, electromechanical or metrology inspection and calibration. May substitute additional experience in lieu of formal education and training.

Must possess:
- ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications, and perform non-routine mathematical computations;
- strong communication skills to effectively interface with employees, managers and vendors
- Experience with electrical/optical/electronics inspection
- an intermediate to Subject Matter Expert level of knowledge on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- ability to work independently or lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.
- strong computer skills.
- Either currently posses, or have the ability to achieve certifications in one or more of the following; IPC-610-A, or IPC-620A, J-STD/Space addendum or equivalent is highly desirable.
- Knowledge and or experience operating in a clean room environment is highly desirable.
- SAP/PEO or other ERP systems/software experience is highly desired
- Documented experience with ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality assurance program requirements and optical material are desirable.
