DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the thermal vacuum testing of optical parts, components, sub- assemblies, and final assemblies.
- Support efforts to set-up and maintain the following testing capabilities: Thermal and TVAC chambers, or other pieces of test equipment.
- Works with Cryogenic, High-Vacuum or High-Pressure Systems, or their subcomponents. Provide technical expertise on thermal vacuum systems
- Capable of Hands-On Thermal Vacuum Test of Opto-Mechanical systems and Optical Payloads.
- Read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams and schematics, and general test requirements from customers to design test solutions.
- Troubleshoot and solve test equipment issues (leak, mechanical or electrical).
- Support and maintain configuration and configuration control of test facilities systems, such as: Compressed air, chilled cooling tower, vacuum, Liquid Nitrogen, Nitrogen gas
- Work with engineers, test directors, contractors and customers on test planning, scheduling, preparation, readiness, and execution.
- Collaborates with cross functional teams in coordinating for Test Support Equipment (TSE) development.
- Ensures that production processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications
- Requires a bachelors in engineering or a related technical filed as well as fourteen or more years of manufacturing engineering experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu or education.
- Applies advanced technical manufacturing engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice as well as project and/or program leadership including organizing, planning, scheduling, and coordinating workloads to meet established project deadlines or milestones.
- Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles; resolve unusually complex technical problems; serve as spokesperson on projects and/or programs; and be a technical expert in one or more areas of engineering.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required enabling an effective leadership interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.
- Customer focused, formulates plans based on the development of innovative new designs in resolving advanced technical engineering problems.
- Must be able to work on a self-initiated basis and in a team environment.
- Ability of obtain and maintain secret level clearance is desired.
