Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement Mens Ministry resources:
- for men in the local church and communities
- for organizers / leaders within local congregations
- for conference leaders and ministry partners
These resources include, but are not limited to leadership development, clergy training, and social issues affecting men and their relationship with Christ and the community.
Provide supervision to staff assigned to the Center for Mens Ministries
Expand the relationships between the Commission and the men of the UMC resulting in
-increased relationships & connections with conference and local church men
-increased use of face to face and electronic training
UMM Relations:
-work with agency affiliates and Board members of GCUMM
-work with UMM leadership and connectional ministries within annual conferences
-Work closely with other agencies of the UMC as directed by the General Secretary
Outreach Ministries:
-Expand the work of the Commission in ethnic diverse churches and communities
-Expand the work of the Commission outside the US
-Expand the availability of materials to diverse linguistic populations
-Coordinate re-starts of mens ministry within local congregations, districts and annual conferences as directed by the General Secretary
Multi-denominational Mens Ministry:
-Expand relationships with Christian leaders in mens ministry outside the UMC to learn and share best practices of ministry development.
Educational Requirements
Bachelors or Masters
Knowledge of the structure of the UMC. Demonstrates mastery of English language, grammar, ability to compose correspondence; interpersonal relations and ability to exercise courtesy and tack with a diverse group of internal and external contacts; ability to use discretion, judgment and initiative. Must be willing to work weekends or evenings as the role may require. Ability to deal with different, sometimes difficult personalities. Computer literacy; public speaking skills; resource development, writing skills for publications; supervisory skills; management skills. Must be a team player. 5 years of teaching other public speaking experience; experience and knowledge of the UMC, experience in small mens groups.
