POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director for Security is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive information Cyber security program for the General Conference (GC) and other church entities to encourage collaboration for a global strategy for security and data protection in fulfilling the mission of the church in accordance with General Conference policy and objectives.

Full-time exempt position with benefits
Remuneration Range : 82-108% ($86k - $101k annually)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Must demonstrate a strong understanding of information security in relation to large-scale information technology systems and business practices, within the General Conference and its Divisions and entities.
Constantly monitors and adjusts to the security threat landscape, with a strong tendency towards proactive engagement on potential threats.
Supports in the development and implementation of computer security policy and procedures for Information Technology
Leads security initiatives and ensures their successful execution.
Ensures appropriately tested and sound security practices are in place.
Implements and utilizes IDS / IPS (Intrusion Detection Systems and Intrusion Protection Systems) solutions designed for large-scale networks.
Regularly presents feedback reports on IT network security to the IT Director and CIO to ensure transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
Works with the DPO to Ensure preventable measures for data protection. Investigates the cause of data breaches and, after council with IT Director, takes corrective actions.
Provides guidance and education on information security and technology risk management practices.
Conducts and / or coordinates investigations and forensics in conjunction with the DPO, the CIO, OGC and / or HR.
Refers law enforcement communication to the GC Associate Treasurer / DPO.
Ensures that information security controls and risk management activities are operating effectively.
Defines principles for secure development of information systems and Internet security features.
Proposes authentication methods, password philosophy, encryption methods, etc.
Helps oversee the GC disaster recovery and incident response programs for Information Technology.
Collaborates with the CIO to build and execute a strategic information security plan and roadmap.
Manages the development and implementation, in coordination with DPO, of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures as well as ensure ongoing maintenance of security.
Performs post-incident review of recovery plans.
Guides in preparation of security resource materials for the use of ITS departments in the world field.
Plans for security orientation and security training of ITS department personnel in the world field.
Must be a member in regular standing of the Seventh-day Adventist Church
Must maintain a regular and reliable attendance schedule.
Other responsibilities as assigned by the IT Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's (BA / BS) degree in Computers, Mathematics, Engineering or related field required. Masters degree preferred. Candidate must have high technical skills in cyber security.
Five or more years of experience in senior level computer responsibilities, including supervisory experience, are required in order to demonstrate level of expertise necessary to perform the job requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of principles, policies and beliefs of the General Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Knowledge of church structure and organization, including committee procedures, etc.
Must have a good working knowledge of ITS.
Requires good organizational skills in evaluating process and making changes to meet the changing needs of users of services provided.
Strong people skills in providing advocacy for functions performed and to maintain high levels of communications with subordinates, users, and superiors.
Must be user friendly, courteous, have good communication skills, and be self-motivated with ability to complete tasks with little supervision.
Ability to perform administrative functions; develop long and short-term plans and programs to effectively evaluate work accomplishments; establish and maintain effective relationships with internal / external personnel.
Must possess advanced ability to effectively present facts and recommendations in English in oral and written form.
Must have well-developed understanding of cyber security to analyze the situation, research appropriate tools and other support related issues and ability to make appropriate recommendations.
