The Holston Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church is excited to announce the search for a Director of the Wesley Foundation at UVA Wise. The Director will serve as the primary representative of the UMC on campus. This part-time role gives opportunity to provide visionary leadership while overseeing the day-to-day administration and operations that support the mission and goals of the Foundation. The Wesley Foundation is an inclusive Christian ministry focused on providing students with an open space for exploring their faith, and an opportunity to learn about what it means to be in relationship with God, others, and all of creation through Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pastoral presence and care for the UVA Wise campus community.
- Develop and oversee nurture, outreach, and witness ministries on campus by planning programming that includes worship, fellowship, spiritual growth, and service opportunities.
- Ensure clerical work and reports are completed in a timely fashion, including arranging for an annual financial audit.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to manage assets and ministries.
- Execute Wesley Foundation policies as approved by the Board of Directors.
- Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees of the Board of Directors.
- Lead the planning and implementation of a fund-raising program in consultation with the Board of Directors.
- Interpret, advocate, and promote the Wesley Foundation in Holston Conference churches.
- Cultivate connectional support by building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders including UVA Wise, local churches, districts, and Holston Conference.
- Supervise and manage the building, grounds, and other employees of the Wesley Foundation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, Master’s Degree is preferred.
- 3 years of experience working in a relevant field is required.
- Proven leadership skills and experience. Experience working with young adults is preferred.
- Strong advocacy and presentation skills to effectively communicate the Foundation’s mission and objectives.
- Ability to successfully incorporate financial management skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proven effective in organizational administration.
- Willingness to participate in UM connectional ministries, including willingness to travel within the conference area.
- Knowledge of the United Methodist denominational polity and organizational structure and membership is helpful.
