Overview
General Dynamics Electric Boat is proud to offer an 8-week paid internship for high school students interested in Carpentry at our Groton facility. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge within the shipbuilding industry.
Program Highlights
Mentorship: Interns will work under the guidance of a trained mentor from their respective union.
Hands-On Experience: Interns will learn to use various tools and techniques essential to carpentry in shipyard operations.
Professional Exposure: Opportunities to observe production processes and interact with skilled employees in the carpentry department.
Interns will be enrolled in the union during their employment.
Qualifications
Requirements
- Must have completed junior year of high school.
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Interns will become employees of Electric Boat and union members for the duration of their summer internship.
- Must meet Electric Boat employment requirements, including medical screening and a hair follicle drug test.
- Must be available to work eight consecutive weeks; June 30, 2025 - August 22, 2025
Preferred:
- Enrolled in a Technical Education Program At School – CTHSS Policy
