What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview
This position will be in the General Purchasing Section within the Materials Management Department. Responsibilities will include all aspects of Materials Management and supplier interface including, but not limited to, strategic sourcing of various commodities and services, work scope development, generation of requests for proposal, coordination of the bid process, cost/price analysis, contract terms and conditions and price negotiations, material and services prioritization, and subcontract closeout. Position requires excellent interpersonal, strong customer service skills, strong computer skills, and excellent communication skills, the ability to interface effectively with Shipyard End Users, EB Engineering and Quality Personnel, QP and Groton machine shops, as well as Senior EBC Staff. The successful candidate must have strong verbal, writing, and organization skills, is a self-starter, is capable of working independently, and has demonstrated the ability to solve problems and make sound decisions. Some travel will be required. Previous work experience in materials acquisition, planning, supply chain management, and related technical knowledge is highly desirable.
Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home, this varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables.
