Overview
Over the next decade, Electric Boat and the supplier base that supports us must grow the enterprise workforce by thousands of skilled tradesmen and women! The Workforce Development team supports workforce readiness by developing and maintaining over twenty skilled trades pipeline programs throughout CT, RI and beyond! Further, this team builds and delivers exciting adult and youth trade exposure (BOAT) programs aimed at attracting the next generation of shipbuilders to come join us!
The EB Workforce Development team is seeking an enthusiastic leader to help us execute this exciting and innovative strategy as we work to attract new shipbuilders to come aboard and develop them into productive tradespeople.
Responsibilities will include:
- Oversee the deployment of workforce development strategies aimed at maximizing attraction and production readiness of new trades men and women into Electric Boat and the Submarine Industrial Base (SIB)
- Personnel management and development – employee oversight, timekeeping, performance reviews, and accountability
- Stakeholder interface and management to ensure “voice of the customer,” quality control, and continuous improvement of delivered programs
- Tracking of data as well as presentation of well-organized reporting, presentation, and metrics
- Regular interface with all levels of internal leadership, external educational and community partners, and customer personnel under the direction of WFD management team
- Regular travel between EB sites, educational partner sites, supplier facilties, and other locations on an as-needed basis
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work or similar OR 5 years of experience in an education field, community outreach, grant management, fundraising, or similar
- 3 years of relevant professional experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems, techniques and procedures
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% local and out of state
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of college systems, processes and practices
- Knowledge of occupations at Electric Boat
- Client facing experience with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Familiarity with EB business systems
- Familiarity with human resources and staffing processes
