The successful candidate will be a collaborative member of the company’s communications team, responsible for developing, implementing and managing strategic external and internal communications programs, to include media creation, public relations, site tours, tradeshows and company events.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Build and execute external and internal communications campaigns. Work with stakeholders on identifying goals and key messages. Create editorial calendars and schedules. Create and publish content. Analyze metrics and best practices to continuously improve presence.
- Develop and implement short- and long-term plans and budgets for appropriate marketing, communications and event programs. Monitor progress and evaluate performance.
- Support successful production and execution of major company events, including ship christenings, keel layings, employee recognitions and others.
- Support effective industry and tradeshow participation. Assist in managing tradeshow budget and logistics, to include managing vendors, developing booth floor plans and designing exhibits. Lead for collateral materials at booth, including videos and brochures. Coordinate with other General Dynamics businesses participating in shows. Represent the company at shows, both domestic and international.
- Manage company’s visitor orientation/meeting room. Ensure displays are engaging, effective and aligned with enterprise needs. Develop and deliver company overview presentation to a wide variety of audiences including prospective and new employees, elected officials and staff, customers, suppliers, local community members and media.
- Administer logistics for VIP tours and media availabilities, personally conduct tours as needed.
- Participate as a member of the Public Affairs Team in the Emergency Control Center for emergency response situations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors’ Degree
- Minimum of 5 years of corporate or military experience in communications, marketing or public relations, with experience working directly with senior management.
- Demonstrated knowledge of how to manage integrated communications campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience in a business setting with website content and social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- Experience writing content for public and business audiences, developing and delivering multi-media presentations. Experience working with media a plus.
- Experience overseeing the design and production of print materials and publications.
- Experience in event management.
- Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Gildart/Gabriel).
Preferred:
- Bachelors’ Degree in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related field.
- Oral and written communication skills. Is articulate and confident in speaking and presenting to large audiences including senior management and media.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time. Commitment to working with leadership and in cross-functional teams.
- Must have demonstrated skills in the following competencies: initiative, integrity and trust, customer focus, communication (verbal and written), persuasion, listening, detail orientation, business acumen, and planning.
- Must have strong analytical skills to interpret social media and other online data.
