Overview
General Dynamics is the world's foremost designer and builder of nuclear submarines. The IT Supply Chain Oracle development group has openings for highly motivated software engineers to support Electric Boat’s customization of our mainframe application suite. These applications span both our financial and design and build capabilities which will support our goal of reducing program cost and prepare the company to face the challenges and opportunities of a modernized digital enterprise. Our team members must have strong verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences. Responsibilities include:
- Primarily responsible for developing customizations for EB’s mainframe applications that support Finance applications as well as applications that support the design and building capabilities
- Maintenance of software applications throughout the lifecycle of the product
- Works closely with end users and other development teams to translate functional and design specifications into technical solutions. Excellent communication skills preferred to define, plan and configure complex software application solutions
- Build and maintain technical specifications to reflect as-built state
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Bachelor of Science equivalent technical degree.
- Internal candidates must come from outside Operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
Preferred:
- At least 2 years of related experience in developing software applications
- Willingness to learn new programming languages and environments
- Strong verbal and communication skills
- Must have an understanding of the agile principles and scrum methodology
- Must have an enthusiasm for working in high performing team environment and collaborating with customers and end-users to define scope and design
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask and still stay focused on release priorities
- Desire to mentor team members
