Electric Boat Corporation (EB) is seeking a well versed engineer for the Availability Support Group (ASG) within Planning Yard Fleet Support Engineering, Department 495. This full time position located in Groton, CT will support commissioned U.S. Navy submarines with the planning, execution, and certification of ongoing fleet maintenance and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability work.

Department 495 is within EB's Life Cycle Support directorate, and is responsible for non-nuclear technical support for commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines for maintenance planning and execution, in areas of drawing and material support, configuration management, and certification. The ASG fulfills a key role in providing this support to multiple US Navy stakeholders during submarine maintenance periods at Naval Shipyards (NSYs) and maintenance facilities.

The position requires routine interaction with the NSYs, NAVSEA PMS392 and PMS450, the submarine maintenance community, and EB engineering and design personnel to help champion effective configuration management and quality assurance of drawings and technical variance documentation (TVD) applicable to commissioned submarines. This position may require occasional travel to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (ME), Norfolk Naval Shipyard (VA), Washington Engineering Office (DC) and other customer locations.

The engineer will be expected to become closely involved in ongoing drawing issues using their own initiative and management skills. This includes developing agendas, leading internal and external meetings, developing meeting minutes, and executing action plans utilizing teams of engineers, designers, and technical support personnel. This will require a good understanding of drawing, Engineering Report, and Auto-Revision processes, TVD documentation, and Engineering Configuration Management requirements. The engineer will be required to assist in the resolution of ongoing/emergent issues using independent judgement and vision for new processes and products. This position is a great opportunity for an engineer seeking to advance their technical project management experience for future growth opportunities.
