What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Financial Clerk position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview
This position is responsible for performing various function in both Payroll and Timekeeping accounting. This includes data entry as well as the review and analysis of Payroll transactions for compliance to applicable company standard practices and union agreements for both hourly and salary employees.
The Financial Clerk must meet daily and weekly deadlines while ensuring that employees are paid correctly, as well as reconcile reports and research records to resolve questionable transactions. The Financial Clerk must have the ability to communicate with employees at all levels and be ready and able to answer questions and provide guidance to employees regarding both Payroll and Timekeeping processes and procedures.
The ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, while maintaining a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. This position will require the ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 years of Clerical, Administrative, or Bookkeeping experience
- Payroll or Timekeeping experience
Preferred:
- 5 year of Clerical, Administrative, or Bookkeeping experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in Finance or Business
- Experience using PeopleSoft software
- Experience using accounting, financial, or payroll software
- Data entry experience
- Experience working with union contracts
