We are seeking an experienced Medical Quality Engineer to join our team as a Supplier Quality Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for onboarding and managing supplier quality's casting and forging vendors as part of Electric Boat's raw material procurement strategy. This long-lead-time material plays a crucial role in downstream manufacturing processes in our shipyards and at other vendors in our supply chain. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will perform various duties throughout all stages of procurement, including reviewing ordering data, conducting supplier capability assessments, evaluating suppliers' quality management systems, performing process audits, and product inspections.
You will also evaluate material defects and quality trends to identify areas where supplier root cause assessments and corrective actions are required. This role involves travel to supplier locations to develop an understanding of their manufacturing and quality practices to ensure purchase order requirements are met.

Additionally, the successful candidate must have:
- A Bachelor of Science in an engineering or engineering technology discipline.
- The ability to travel, potentially extensively at times.
- The ability to hold and maintain a SECRET DoD security clearance.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in quality engineering, systems engineering, and/or waterfront engineering.
- Possession of quality certifications such as LEAN Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), and/or ASQ Certified Quality Manager (CQM).
- A degree in manufacturing, structural, or industrial engineering.
- Experience working with quality requirements.
- Strong technical writing skills.
