What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rad Con Monitor position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?

Overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the requirements of NAVSEA 389-0288.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversight of Trade performance of radiological work,
Training and qualification of TLD-qualified personnel, conducting radiological surveys/surveillances, and supporting the radiological emergency plan.
The primary assignments of this position will be within the Groton shipyard and NRMD NLON, but work may be assigned at any EB site that performs radiological work.
This position requires independent decision-making and frequent liaison with EB Management, Trades and Navy personnel.

Applicant must pass a math-based screening exam after required and preferred are reviewed
Applicant that has not been previously NAVSEA 389-0288, Article 106.2 qualified (Rad Con Technician) will be required to attend a 23 week Rad Con Technician Qualification School located in Virginia as part of a 42 week training period
Applicant must have strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with shipyard personnel and regulatory agencies
The selected candidate must be available to work all shifts as needed
Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment. They will be required to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in this position.
