What are the responsibilities and job description for the Rad Con Monitor position at General Dynamics Electric Boat?
Overview:
This position is responsible for overseeing the requirements of NAVSEA 389-0288.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight of Trade performance of radiological work,
- Training and qualification of TLD-qualified personnel, conducting radiological surveys/surveillances, and supporting the radiological emergency plan.
- The primary assignments of this position will be within the Groton shipyard and NRMD NLON, but work may be assigned at any EB site that performs radiological work.
- This position requires independent decision-making and frequent liaison with EB Management, Trades and Navy personnel.
Required:
- High school graduate or equivalent
Preferred:
- Previous RadCon Operations or Naval Nuclear Program experience
- Current or previous qualification to Article 108 RadCon Technician level
- Secondary applicable schooling
- Computer skills and MS Suite proficiency
- Applicant must pass a math-based screening exam after required and preferred are reviewed
- Applicant that has not been previously NAVSEA 389-0288, Article 106.2 qualified (Rad Con Technician) will be required to attend a 23 week Rad Con Technician Qualification School located in Virginia as part of a 42 week training period
- Applicant must have strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with shipyard personnel and regulatory agencies
- The selected candidate must be available to work all shifts as needed
- Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment. They will be required to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in this position.
