Overview
As Electric Boat's work throughput increases, it has become increasingly more imperative that Electric Boat Information Technology (EBIT) works the right projects, at the right time, and within schedule and budget in order to support our growing business needs. In support of this goal, the EBIT department has established the EBIT Project Management Office (PMO) that is responsible for the management of projects across all of EBIT.
Responsibilities of the team include:
- Project planning; which includes identifying candidate projects, categorizing projects, evaluating projects, prioritizing projects, balancing the project portfolio, selecting the projects to fund, determining funding strategy, and authorizing selected projects.
- Establishment and guidance for portfolio and project management processes and best practices for EBIT.
- Performance monitoring of all EBIT projects which involves regular project progress updates, as well as monitoring and analysis of portfolio and project metrics.
- Program management for major IT programs such as Facilities (Real Estate), IPDE/SSNX, and ERP (Finance and Supply Chain).
The EBIT PMO is looking for a highly motivated individual to take on a leadership role within the EBIT PMO team as we work to establish a modern IT Project Management Office. This leadership role will be responsible for all projects within the area of IT Application projects (software development). The successful candidates must be able to work well in a team setting, effectively communicate, and be willing to drive team performance.
The Application Portfolio Lead will be responsible for:
- Overall performance of projects within the Application portfolio
- Establishing a reporting methodology with the PMO team
- Prioritization of projects within the Applications portfolio
- Tracking and managing budgets at a portfolio and program level
- Strategic Planning and Strategic Roadmaps within the Application Portfolio
- Assess project risk and resource constraints across the Portfolio
- Manage EBIT vendor performance
- Develop and analyze Portfolio level metrics and trends
Position will require occasional travel to Quonset Point.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of experience managing Portfolio or Programs
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or related degree
- 5 or more years of related work experience managing IT Portfolios or IT Programs
- Experience supporting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Programs and/or Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Programs
Skills
- Candidate must possess and be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and communication skills
- Candidate must be a self-starter with the proven ability to accomplish goals independently, with minimal oversight
- Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and have proven ability to drive teams and meet deadlines
