Qualifications:
The Materials Management organization is seeking a Subcontract Buyer who will be responsible for service and indirect procurement operations supporting various projects and programs at Electric Boat. This positions includes both design and construction supply chain efforts and tasks associated with our Facilities Master Plan and Capital Programs.
Responsibilities will include all aspects of procurement and supplier interface including, but not limited to: strategic sourcing of various components, work scope development, generation of requests for proposals, coordination of the bid process, cost/price analysis, contract terms and conditions and price negotiations, material and services prioritization, claim resolution, subcontract closeout, and Project Management of various suppliers. An understanding of contract administration and project management is a requirement of this position.
The positions require excellent interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, and a good understanding of supply chain information systems and business processes. The ability to interface effectively with Contractors, Shipyard End Users, Electric Boat Engineering and Quality Personnel, Quonset Point and Groton Machine Shops, Senior Management at suppliers, as well as Electric Boat Executive Staff is required.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter and have strong verbal, written, and organization skills. The successful candidate must be capable of working independently, prioritize assignments, develop power point presentations, develop contractor selection plans, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to solve problems and make sound business decisions.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 1 years’ experience in (one or more areas); contracts, finance, supply chain, purchasing, buying, operations, construction, management or planning
- Project management experience
- Knowledge and experience in contract administration
- Knowledge and experience of supply chain information systems and business processes.
- Travel to suppliers may be required monthly and/or quarterly
- Travel between job sites will be required
- Applicant must possess or be able to secure secret or higher DOD clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Supply Chain Management, Contracts, Management, Communication, Construction or Financial discipline.
- 3-8 years’ work experience in materials acquisition, construction, supply chain management, operations/manufacturing and related technical knowledge
- Experience in working with Government Contracts
