SUMMARY
The Deputy Program Manager is responsible for assisting the Program Manager with the administration of contracts by controlling costs, production schedule, manpower requirements, advance planning, engineering and material procurement. The Deputy Program Manager reports directly to the Program Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Responsible for working with the Program Manager in the management of the cost, schedule, and performance of NASSCO programs.
- Responsible for coordinating and executing Program Risk Management program
- Works with the Program Manager in the preparation of proposals, business plans, specifications, and operating budgets. Must have a strong level of recommendation with a medium level of authority and a high Cost Control value ($1,000,000 billion)
- Acts as a company contact for program activities.
- Participates in program reviews.
- Supports Program Manager in proposal development and coordination
- Write proposal support as necessary
- Monitors program schedules, identification of program problems, and resolution of issues.
- Communicates with owners. Indirect reports and coordinates about 400 to 500 people
- Position has a significant level of authority and company representation
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in a marine field. Master's preferred.
- 4 years of experience in the Shipbuilding industry.
- Ability to verbally assert NASSCO's position on various productions, contractual and technical matters in a professional, courteous, yet assertive manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels, management, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products and/or other personal computer software applications.
- Ability to prepare technical and professional correspondence.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Incumbent must be able to climb on and around ships, handle stressful situations and must be able to commute to various areas of the shipyard.
Employee is frequently exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates wherein the noise level (including sirens, horns, chipping and hammering) is usually moderate to extremely noisy 50% of the time.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Accountable for cost control, production schedule, manpower requirements, advance planning and material procurement related to the programs to which they are assigned.
Pay Scale: $99,600 - $143,800
This pay range is a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role. It takes into account the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, and education.
