ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)
The Pipefitters are responsible for accomplishing work in accordance with work specifications safely, with the highest quality and in a professional manner.
POSITION DEMANDS (Education / Training / Experience)
- Basic knowledge of machine and hand threading pipes.
- Be familiar with pipe scribe lines and benchmarks.
- Be familiar with various types of valves (globe, ball and gate).
- Be familiar with various pipe joint designs (P-14 & P-17).
- Must have three years of ship repair experience.
- Must be knowledgeable of the cleanliness levels (I, II & III).
- Basic brazing knowledge (GR III & IV) and LP-001-7000.
- Basic knowledge of hand bending simple offsets.
- Advanced blueprint reading (scaling drawings and identifying flaws).
- Must know basic ship repair standard items (009-24, 009-71, 009-23).
- LOKRING MAF fittings.
- Must be able to fabricate custom hangers.
- Be able to understand a WAF and what each block means.
- Be knowledgeable in hydrostatic testing and tank testing.
- Must be familiar with marine chemist tickets and competent person tickets.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual Requirements : Must be able to pass a Standard Jaeger’s Test chart for near vision acuity reading J1 letters or equivalent with or without corrective aids and pass a color vision test using Ishihara’s Tests for Color Deficiency.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to shop supervisor. This position develops and maintains a positive working relationship with other Pipefitters and supports a team approach in the pursuit of common company goals.

UNIQUE / ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Regular, reliable attendance on-site is an essential function of the job. Weekend work and / or extended hours may be required. Must be able to access all work locations, including government and private shipyards and / or vessels.
Pay Range : $28.67 - $37.64 Hourly
The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity.
