Overview:
Utilizing recovery collections experience and knowledge of the financial industry, the Collections Partner focuses on recovering assets for the Credit Union while specializing in the recovery of financial assets through repossessed vehicles at auctions and other sources.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work with management improve collection effectiveness to reduce delinquencies and charge-offs, and to optimally maximize funds recovered while minimizing recovery timeframes
- Serve as repossession agent for Credit Union, attending auctions when needed
- Partner with management with the development and implementation of recovery and collections strategies designed to achieve departmental success
- Drive resolution working to collect on outstanding delinquent balances on all installment loans 15-180 days past due
- Contact members with delinquent accounts or accounts in repossession or recovery status via email, phone, or text by utilizing advanced skip tracing techniques to find additional or updated contact information when members fail to respond
- Partner with team members to recover charged off debt, including consumer loans, mortgage loans, and credit cards
- Work with insurance companies and gap companies when dealing with total loss claims and ability to negotiate repayment terms on deficiency balances when assigned
- Stays knowledgeable of current technologies, data and system solutions, and the financial industry
- Works to enhance and sustain an effective organizational culture by building positive, collaborative, and functional relationships
- Participate in other duties as assigned to help fulfill initiatives for the Collections team
- Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting or related field required
- At least five years financial services experience
- Minimum five years' experience handling and resolving complex collections situations
- Must have extensive knowledge of regulations and guidelines set forth in the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which sets limits on the techniques and methods that can be used to repossess collateral
- Understands the repossession process from the initial assignment, to repossession, to redemption or sale
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work at very high level with no oversight or direction; work on tasks that are varied and complex
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
