Summary
General Excavating is an award-winning contractor serving public and private owners throughout the state of Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming. General Excavating specializes in the construction of; underground utilities, natural gas distribution, environmental remediation, excavation shoring, directional drilling, hydro-excavation, and heavy civil construction of bridge and concrete structures.
General Excavating is searching for a highly motivated Concrete Finisher. The ideal candidate will have experience in all phases of concrete work, including placing, finishing, repairing, and maintaining concrete structures and slabs on heavy civil and natural gas distribution construction sites. The Concrete Finisher will work closely with site supervisors, laborers, and equipment operators to ensure that all concrete-related work meets project specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience with gas distribution systems, a strong attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. Ability to read a tape measure and convert inches into tenths.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Place, level, and finish concrete surfaces using hand and power tools (e.g., screeds, floats, trowels).
- Set forms and ensure proper alignment, elevation, and slope according to project specifications.
- Apply curing and sealing compounds to concrete surfaces.
- Cut expansion joints and ensure proper finishing techniques to prevent cracks and imperfections.
- Assist in the preparation and pouring of concrete for bridge decks, abutments, retaining walls, foundations, sidewalks, and utility structures.
- Patch and repair damaged or defective concrete structures as needed.
- Work with other trades and crews to coordinate concrete pours and finishing schedules.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all company and OSHA safety regulations.
- Operate and maintain concrete finishing tools and equipment.
- Assist with reinforcing steel (rebar) placement and tying when necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2-5 Years of experience as a Concrete Finisher
- Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
