- Communicates with Insurance Representatives when necessary to effectively promote continuity in pre-certification/insurance verification process.

- Assists in collection of up-front patient responsibilities.
- Patient access functions are completed timely, promoting patient safety and minimizing patient delays.
- Promptly performs initial quick registrations on targeted patients and completes the access process as soon as possible.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Completes and forwards discharged charts to Medical Records according to established procedures.
- Prepares patient folders and files patient information appropriately, copies charts as approved by Medical Records, faxes and files a variety of materials.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Performs routine and assigned tasks in the department under the direction of a licensed nurse and/or licensed Radiology Technologist, within the scope of training and experience.
- Performs technical care skills and comfort measures to patients.
- Reports any changes in the patient’s condition, in a timely and accurate manner, to the licensed nurse.
- Assists with the initiation and removal of non-invasive monitoring equipment, as directed.
- Assists with the collection and transport of specimens as directed.
- Retrieves/transports medications from pharmacy in accordance with BRRH policy, as directed.
- Assists in patient transportation to and from clinical areas as needed.
- Assists with the admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
- Effectively and efficiently assists in patient care setup for procedural and clinical area.
- Performs procedural preps as required by procedures and following protocols.
- Maintains and practices universal precautions and aseptic technique
- Appropriately performs procedural scrub, gowning and gloving techniques according to department policy.
- May participate in emergency response situations in accordance with BRRH Code Blue Policy.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Documents patient care accurately and appropriately in all assigned patient records.
- Obtains and documents complete vital signs of patients, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration, pulse and pain score.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Performs waste removal from all areas of the patient care unit.
- Actively participates in maintaining the cleanliness of the patient care environment and nursing station.
- Ensures patient safety by adhering to BRRH Safety Policy guidelines.
- Follow BRRH policies and procedures related to the operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Assists with the preparation and return of instruments to decontamination for sterilization.
- Performs or assists others to perform proper aseptic technique, isolation procedures, and infection control measures as needed.
- Cleans, disinfects and stores equipment in clinic area, according to established guidelines
- Assists/performs decontamination/sterilization techniques according to policy/procedure as directed
- Maintains cleanliness of clean, dirty and autoclave designated areas and monitors accordingly.
- Documents and maintains accurate usage of autoclave log
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
- Replaces items used daily and if necessary, relocates misplaced supplies.
- Reports all noted shortages in a timely manner to appropriate personnel.
- Assists nursing and radiology personnel to increase/decrease stocking item PAR levels according to monthly usage.
- Checks and restocks shelfs as needed.
- Works with Central Supply supervisor to adjust supply PAR levels as needed.
- Uses pick ticket for defined procedure cases to gather necessary procedure case items.
- Prepares case carts accurately according to physician’s preference lists.
- Notifies appropriate personnel of inventory deficiencies.
Previous receptionist/scheduling experience preferred including computer registration and similar functions.
Medical Assisting experience preferred.
Experience in an outpatient surgical/and or clinical setting (not required)
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
High school graduation preferred.
CPR Certified.
HIPAA REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable HIPAA regulations appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Medical records without limitation both paper and electronic, patient
demographics, lab and radiology results, patient information related to surgery or appointment schedules, medical records related to quality/data, patient financial information, patient billing 3rd party, patients related complaints, information related to patient location, and/or patient’s religious beliefs.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
Maintains knowledge of and adherence to all applicable safety practices appropriate to Job Position including but not limited to: Incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps and linen, PPE, exposure
control plans, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, transporting patients, transporting
medications and blood, and monitoring clinical alarms.
