We are looking for a Medical Appointment Clerk for a full-time contract position at Beale AFB, CA. (Full time, Monday-Friday)
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services from phone calls, secured messaging or other methods used for appointment requests.
Supports PCM by name processing for appointment and appropriate access to care timeframes during allocation of standard appointment types.
Maintains appointment schedules using a government computer system (Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS), AHLTA or MHS GENESIS.
Validates eligibility through appropriate booking through Defense Eligibility Report System (DEERS).
Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient schedules and logs.
Receives and electronically delivers telephone messages to PCMs and/or clinic nurses by using the Government computer system, standard protocols and individual clinic guidelines as needed.
If in the lead clerk position, attendance to the clinic Access to Care Meeting mandatory for central booking representation.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school or GED diploma
- Ability to operate office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines and telephone systems.
- At least six months of experience in medical office scheduling
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM (computer keyboard)
- Desired knowledge in the following systems: Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA); Composite Health Care systems (CHCS) and/or MHS GENESIS; Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS)
- Ability to speak and communicate clearly in English
- Excellent customer service and adaptability
- General medical ethics, as well as telephone etiquette
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures in detail
