The position of Sales Development Representative drives new business opportunities through strategic prospecting and multi-channel outreach initiatives for the organization. This role serves as the critical first point of contact with potential clients, identifying and qualifying opportunities across industries while building and nurturing a strong sales pipeline. The SDR position requires excellence in both virtual and in-person relationship building, utilizing tools like CRM systems, email campaigns, and social selling to engage prospects and set qualified appointments for our Business Development Managers. This position works onsite in our Baton Rouge or Birmingham office.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound Prospecting & Lead Generation: Utilize multi-channel outreach strategies (cold calls, emails, LinkedIn, etc.) to identify and engage new business opportunities. Drive consistent pipeline growth through strategic prospecting activities.
- Attend Networking Events & Industry Groups: Actively represent our company at networking events, industry meetups, and conferences to build relationships and generate leads. Develop and maintain a strong professional network within our target markets.
- Set First-Time Appointments (FTAs): Qualify prospects and schedule appointments for the Business Development Managers (BDMs), ensuring they are high-potential opportunities for sales. Maintain a consistent volume of quality appointments.
- Collaborate with Sales Team: Work closely with BDMs to ensure smooth lead handoffs and alignment on target markets, messaging, and goals. Participate in regular team meetings and strategy sessions.
- CRM Management: Keep accurate records of interactions and leads in our CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), and manage follow-ups efficiently. Maintain high data quality standards and detailed activity logging.
- Prospecting Strategy Development: Contribute to the refinement of our prospecting approach and messaging based on real-time feedback and experiences. Help identify and implement best practices for outreach and engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field
- 1-2 years of sales development, inside sales, or related experience
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot) and sales engagement tools
- Experience with multi-channel prospecting techniques
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IT, technology, or managed services industry
- Knowledge of B2B sales processes and methodologies
- Familiarity with LinkedIn Sales Navigator and other social selling tools
- Track record of successful lead generation and appointment setting
