We are currently looking for a qualified Design Engineer to join our team in Wabash, IN. This position involves the development, design, and analysis of foundry systems and requires working within construction site environments as well as collaborating across departments such as System Engineering, Production Engineering, Customer Service, Sales, and R&D testing. The ideal candidate will have direct foundry experience as a project engineer or involvement with the design, layout, and ROI of capital equipment projects, tailored to construction operations.
Job Responsibilities
Pay: $80,000 to $90,000 paid annually. The range provided is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation. Other factors that are involved in offer decisions include, and are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, geography, and internal equity.

Job Responsibilities
- Apply existing knowledge from the metal casting and construction industries to design innovative solutions that improve customer processes.
- Green sand or no-bake processes will be the primary focus of this position, considering construction-specific constraints.
- Create and modify engineering drawings in conformance to GK Systems methods to define equipment and parts accurately and clearly for manufacture, ensuring compatibility with on-site installation requirements.
- Assist with project planning and layout for construction sites.
- Grow and maintain engineering design, analysis, CAD, manufacturing, and GK equipment knowledge specific to construction and foundry operations.
- Conduct on-site evaluations in Wabash, IN, and other locations as needed, supporting process measurements, field measurements, and commissioning.
- Assist in the development of new market initiatives and support existing marketing strategies.
- Partner with Sales and other departments to provide competitive and accurate proposals tailored to construction project needs.
- Control costs by optimizing critical design elements, reducing unnecessary expenses, and improving group efficiency.
- Utilize available technology effectively to enhance productivity and address site-specific challenges.
- Fully support the Company’s ISO objectives, policies, procedures, and GK Way program.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Engineering experience designing capital industrial equipment, particularly for construction or metal casting environments, is a plus.
- Working knowledge of CAD systems, preferably AutoCAD, Inventor, and Vault, with a focus on construction applications.
- Ability to work onsite in Wabash, IN, and occasionally elsewhere for process evaluations, field measuring, and equipment commissioning.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information.
- Ability to understand basic business concepts and respond effectively to customer requests, particularly in on-site contexts.
- A proactive approach to ownership of work-related initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
