External candidates who are currently enrolled in an educational program and anticipate graduating with the appropriate certification(s) prior to the 2025-2026 school year are encouraged to apply. Additional qualifications and experience will be considered and may be necessary or desirable for individual positions along with a demonstrated competency in writing and communication skills.


Job Selection Expectations


Applications, resumes, letters of reference, and written samples will be reviewed for required certification; demonstrated related knowledge, skills, and abilities; and ability to communicate effectively. As candidates progress through the selection process, they may be asked to perform additional written exercises, complete panel interviews, and perform a sample lesson related to the subject area.


Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • In-depth understanding of high school physics curricula and standards
  • Strong foundation in scientific methods, experimental design, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of high school mathematics curriculum framework and state education standards
  • Understanding of how mathematical concepts apply to real-world problems, including in fields like engineering
  • Proficiency in using technology tools and software to enhance instruction
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and risk management related to high school science experiments
  • Ability to effectively explain complex physics concepts in a clear, engaging, and understandable manner
  • Strong skills in managing diverse classrooms, maintaining student engagement, and ensuring a respectful, productive learning environment
  • Ability to design and implement formative and summative assessments to track student progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the science department and other staff members to foster an integrated learning environment
  • Proficiency in integrating digital tools and virtual resources to supplement teaching and engaging students in interactive learning.
  • Ability to adjust teaching methods and approaches to accommodate a wide range of learning abilities
  • Ability to encourage students to develop analytical and problem-solving skills, especially when applying physics concepts to real-world scenarios
  • Ability to inspire and motivate students, fostering a passion for learning physics and scientific inquiry
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively balance lesson planning, grading, and student support
  • Ability to provide individualized attention and support to students struggling with physics concepts, both in and outside of the classroom


Anticipated Duration:


Full-time employee (beginning 2025-2026 school year)
