The superintendent will be responsible for overseeing our operations in the DC / Baltimore metro and must be comfortable with travel between these locations. This is a Union position starting at $53.77 an hour plus amazing benefits and a company vehicle!
Superintendent
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Outside Superintendent to oversee the daily management of our field team, including HVAC technicians, pipefitters, welders, and apprentices. This leadership role is crucial in maintaining high-performance standards, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring operational efficiency while serving our mission-critical customer base. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives on responsibility, excels at team development, and is eager to build upon an already strong workforce.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
- Direct and manage daily field operations, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and on time.
- Provide hands-on leadership to field technicians, ensuring accountability and high performance.
- Mentor and develop field staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and excellence.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching for continuous improvement.
Safety & Compliance
- Implement and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and company policies.
- Conduct site safety audits, enforce proper PPE use, and lead safety meetings/toolbox talks.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Project Execution & Quality Control
- Coordinate work schedules, job assignments, and resource allocation to optimize productivity.
- Oversee quality control and ensure that all installations, repairs, and maintenance work meet industry standards and company expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues related to HVAC, piping, welding, and mechanical systems.
- Work closely with the project management team, foremen, and subcontractors to streamline operations and maintain timelines.
Customer & Vendor Relations
- Act as a primary point of contact for field operations, maintaining strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ensure all customer expectations and contract obligations are met with professionalism and efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the Mechanical/HVAC industry, including field leadership roles.
- Strong experience in managing field personnel, including HVAC technicians, pipefitters, welders, and apprentices.
- OSHA 30 certification (or higher) required; additional safety certifications such as First Aid/CPR, NFPA 70E, Confined Space Training, and Fall Protection Training are a plus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, piping, and mechanical systems, including troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience implementing and enforcing safety programs.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with project management software (e.g., eSub, Procore, or similar).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
- Valid drivers license with the ability to travel between job sites as needed.
- Preferred but not required: Supervisor Certification, CFC Refrigerant Certification, Maryland HVAC Journeyman or Master License, ASME B31.1 or B31.3 Welding Certification, PMP or Construction Management Certification.
