3-4 month assignment

Wage Range: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

Summary

Under the direction of engineering management and senior engineers, this position is responsible for applying engineering drafting principles and procedures in performing basic engineering drafting/design work. Develop drawings and models using CAD software and collaborating with engineers on design projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to develop detailed designs and technical drawings for mechanical components and systems.
  • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes as needed
  • Working closely with mechanical engineers to understand project requirements and translate conceptual designs into detailed blueprints.
  • Assist in testing prototypes, identifying design issues, and suggesting modifications to optimize designs and ensure functionality.
  • Perform calculations related to materials, dimensions, and other design-related parameters.
  • Create a bill of materials needed for a project and contribute to the documentation of design specifications.
  • Effectively communicate design ideas, collaborate with engineers, and work within a team.
  • Identify design issues, suggest solutions, and contribute to the overall design process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Computer skills with a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Must possess the ability and desire to encourage and facilitate a positive and productive work environment for all employees
  • Must report to work at scheduled time and maintain satisfactory attendance with limited unscheduled absences
  • Must be able to work ON SITE the standard 8AM-5PM, Monday – Friday schedule and overtime as required
  • Limited travel required

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum associate’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Drafting, CAD, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in mechanical drafting or design.
  • Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office programs
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of mechanical design drafting practices, including full compliance with ASME Standard Y14.5 and relevant GD&T standards

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, twist, bend, stoop, reach above shoulder level, and lift up to 30 lbs. with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, feel, or type; and utilize a telephone, copier, printer, computer, calculator, mouse, keyboard, and monitor to perform daily duties. The employee regularly engages in personal interaction with company personnel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, night vision, and the ability to adjust focus and utilize a computer monitor under fluorescent lighting, daylight, low light, and/or no light where applicable.

  • The employee’s work area is in an engineering lab under fluorescent lighting
  • The employee will be required to walk up and down one flight of stairs
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock.

 

 

Must be a US Citizen, Permanent US Resident, or currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without current or future employment sponsorship.
