OVERVIEW

The Trade Planning Lead (TPL) provides customer selling teams with analytic, trade planning, and trade systems support to advance BLUE Buffalo’s trade strategies. 

 

BLUE Buffalo is seeking a TPL to support our Grocery business. In this role you will work directly with the Customer Sales Teams (Director, SCMs, CALs) providing analytic trade planning support, to drive efficient and effective plans and brilliant execution of key priorities, that will grow both sales and share. You will build a strong partnership with internal cross-functional partners (PSMs, Category Management, Shopper Marketing, Demand Planning) You will help guide Channel/Customer strategies, giving you the opportunity to influence both internally and externally.

 

 BLUE is looking for an engaging leader who can bring strategic thought, develop winning strategies, and can drive collaboration with key partners. This individual will be working on high growth businesses in an entrepreneurial environment, so a passion for building and improving process is critical. A strong candidate will have strong business acumen, previous experience leading projects that work across teams, and is skilled at building efficient annual trade plans. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

EXECUTIONAL EXCELLENCE (Support the Sales team to achieve annual AOP and all segment financial targets)

  • Take personal accountability and ownership for results, deeply understands customer and Pet Parent needs and has the ability to prioritize what’s most important
  • Implement and utilize a suite of capabilities to maximize trade ROI and SRM impact
  • Integrate customer data and knowledge of BLUE Buffalo’s trade strategy to make promotional recommendations, resulting in improved effectiveness and efficiency
  • Leverage syndicated data and Tableau reporting to provide input as a partner with the field sales team to establish an accurate monthly estimate (PEAK Process)
  • Lead prep for and cost changes including developing Trade Models, Cost/Price Slope and presentation materials for customers
  • Lead Trade Key Customer Focus Sprints including analytics to drive insights and plan optimization

PROBLEM SOLVING & ANALYTICS

  • Gather and analyze syndicated data (e.g., from Nielsen, IRI, consumers, and/or customers) to identify growth opportunities through distribution, shelving, and merchandising, and pricing recommendations.
  • Leverage enterprise wide problem-solving tools and stakeholders to address business problems 

SELLING EXPERTISE & LEADERSHIP

  • Influence internal strategy as a customer expert, and share learning and results across channels
  • Aid in defining opportunities, providing key information, and preparing customer specific presentation materials.
  • Provide selling teams with support and guidance on trade and SRM tools.
  • Partner with PSMs, Consumer Insights, Category Management and Shopper Marketing to develop channel and customer specific strategies, communication & presentations to maximize impact.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience in sales, account management, trade funding, category management or other relevant experience
  • Successful demonstration of analytical skills using various data sources (e.g., Nielsen, IRI, Tableau, sales data)
  • Self-motivated and detail oriented with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Must be proficient in software packages (Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint)
