Position Summary
The Injection Molding Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing injection molding machines and related equipment.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Perform a variety of maintenance tasks to diagnose, repair, rebuild and replace press equipment.
- Skilled in maintenance on pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, pumps, compressors, and electrical computer components.
- Knowledgeable in troubleshooting and repairing/adjusting equipment issues.
- Use maintenance knowledge to increase productivity, decrease downtime and waste.
- Must be able to follow all safety and company policies that include Lock-Out Tag-Out procedures.
- Ability to work within a team or independently.
- Excellent attendance practices.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Excellent Communication Skills (both written and verbal).
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while emphasizing quality and efficiency.
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs. regularly.
- Able to stand, sit, walk, stoop, and bend throughout the day.
- Able to use hands and fingers to reach and grasp.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and agreeable to overtime.
- Experience in manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels
Technical Skills
1. PLC Programming and Troubleshooting
- Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) used in injection molding machines, including diagnostics and basic programming.
2. Material Handling Systems
- Understanding of material drying, loading, and feeding systems, including troubleshooting vacuum loaders and material hoppers.
3. Electrical System Proficiency
- Experience working with 3-phase electrical systems, sensors, relays, and wiring.
- Skilled in diagnosing and replacing components like motors, circuit breakers, and switches.
4. Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
- Expertise in reading hydraulic schematics, repairing cylinders, and replacing valves.
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems used for clamping and ejection mechanisms.
5. Injection Molding Process Knowledge
- Expertise in the operation and optimization of injection molding processes, including knowledge of the cycle time reduction, part ejection, and clamping systems.
6. Cooling and Heating Systems
- Maintenance of water-cooling systems, chillers, and heaters to ensure proper mold and machine temperature control.
7. Robotics Integration
- Experience with robotic systems used for part removal and auxiliary functions (e.g., ABB, Fanuc or Yushin robots).
8. Tooling and Mold Maintenance
- Basic knowledge of mold repair, polishing, and installation techniques.
- Ability to identify wear and damage on mold components.
9. Advanced Troubleshooting Tools
- Proficiency in using thermal imaging cameras, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools for predictive maintenance.
