The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description • Supervise and work along with a composite crew of highly skilled and semi-skilled employees providing technical direction in the construction of and maintenance of the State-owned buildings and properties. • Observe and inspect work in progress and when completed to ensure specific codes and regulations are followed, materials and equipment are used properly, schedules are met, and work is performed according to plan.• Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and job specifications to determine labor and material requirements. Order materials, supplies and assign appropriate staff.• Meet with supervisors of the other shops involved in the project to coordinate activities and schedule work to be performed to ensure the effective utilization of staff, materials, equipment and completion of the project on schedule.• Utilize the AiM work management system to track project progress, supplies, work hours and costs. • Prepare written performance evaluations and probation reports of subordinate staff, perform written and verbal counseling when needed, and ensure all staff training requirements are met.• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.• Perform other duties as assigned.Operational Needs: • Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.• Ability to use the tools of all building trades.• Experience in estimation, blueprint, drawing reading and code interpretation.• Asbestos Supervisor certification required within 90 days of appointment as well as compliance with all related PESH/OSHA regulations.• Successful completion of forklift training within 90 days of appointment.• Experience in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Outlook and AiM.• Knowledge of multiple trades, means, and methods.• Ability to work overtime as required.

Minimum Qualifications One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience such as that required for a Trades Specialist (Carpenter), Trades Specialist (Electrician), Service & Repair Mechanic (Electronics), Trades Generalist, Grounds Construction Supervisor, Trades Specialist (Locksmith), Trades Specialist (Machinist), Trades Specialist (Mason & Plasterer), Service & Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment), Trades Specialist (Painter), Trades Specialist (Plumber & Steamfitter), Service & Repair Mechanic (HVAC-R), Trades Specialist (Roofing), or Trades Specialist (Welder).Application Process - Candidates are required to provide specific, verifiable information about their qualifying experience with the resume and cover letter.
