Their primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth operation and broadcast of live events and other content. Duties include but are not limited to: • Technical Monitoring: The MCO monitors the technical aspects of the broadcast or webcast, such as video and audio quality, timing, and signal or stream integrity. • Content Ingestion: The MCO is responsible for ingesting and preparing the content for broadcast. They receive the program material from various sources, such as satellite feeds, live cameras, pre-recorded tapes, or digital files. The MCO verifies the content and ensures that it meets the technical specifications for broadcast.• Quality Control: Before the content goes live or the live event begins, the MCO conducts quality control checks to ensure that there are no technical issues or errors in the content or live feed. They review the content for any glitches, video or audio discrepancies, or other potential problems.• Live Event Support: During live events, such as sports broadcasts or news coverage, the MCO works closely with the production team to ensure seamless execution. They may handle the integration of live feeds from remote locations, switch between different cameras or feeds, and manage the timing of replays or graphics.• Troubleshooting: In the event of technical issues or emergencies, the MCO acts swiftly to identify and resolve problems. They have a good understanding of the broadcasting equipment, transmission systems, and signal flow, enabling them to troubleshoot and rectify issues under pressure.• Documentation and Reporting: The MCO maintains detailed records of the broadcast activities, including the content played, any technical issues encountered, and the actions taken to address them. Minimum Qualifications Four years of experience* as a news videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, account executive, video editor, web designer, or similar position at a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, or marketing or communications agency. *Substitutions: College study in a related field may substitute for up to three years of experience as listed above with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience.
