The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description • Assist with overseeing the daily administration, supervision, and management of multiple OGS Mail Centers, Dockmaster Office, and Screening Facilities.• Formulate, schedule, and assign vehicles and staff.• Ensure all courier routes and freight requests are completed efficiently and accurately.• Train and ensure staff operate equipment including metering machines, postage machines, inserting machines, computer systems, x-ray machines, and electronic handheld devices properly.• Perform a variety of record keeping services including maintenance and fuel usage reports.• Efficiently and accurately utilize Microsoft Office, FedEx System and program specific software.• Manage several shared E-mail boxes.• Enter freight invoices into the Carlton Scale System. • Interact with customers and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner.• Receive, respond, and resolve complaints and reports of injury.• Contract with truck rental vendors as needed.• Perform a full range of supervisory duties.• Perform other duties as requested.Operational Needs: • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class D Driver’s License issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles• Ability to bend, lift, stand, and walk for long periods of time.• Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds.• Availability to respond to emergency and/or unplanned assignments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Minimum Qualifications This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS)* and applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications to be considered for this position: #1. Four years of experience in the management or supervision of fleet operations or daily dispatching of motor vehicles from a pool of at least 30 vehicles.OR #2. Seven years of experience overseeing the maintenance of motor vehicles and keeping records and reports of that maintenance from a pool of at least 30 vehicles.Substitution: You may substitute a high school diploma, or a high school equivalency diploma issued by an appropriate educational authority for two years of the experience described in #1, or four years of the experience described in #2.Applicants may be appointed to this position if currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title OR are a current New York State employee with one year or more of qualifying permanent service in a Transportation Supervisor 2.
