Safety and Risk Coordinator
General Shale, the nation’s leading brick and masonry materials manufacturer, is seeking a Safety and Risk Coordinator to join our Safety and Risk Management team at our headquarters in Johnson City, TN.
Job Overview:
The Safety and Risk Coordinator provides essential administrative support to the safety and risk management department by assisting in planning, organizing, and tracking safety and insurance related efforts. This role is key for ensuring safety documentation, records, and training materials are maintained accurately. This role will include administration responsibilities of the insurance management function which will include administrative tasks related to claims support, and customer contract compliance. The Safety and Insurance Coordinator will work closely with management to help with administrative tasks that support the safety and insurance functions of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update safety-related records, documents, and databases, assisting with the admin function of regulation compliance that will include local, state, and federal regs.
- Assist with the scheduling and coordination of training sessions, including tracking the attendance and overseeing certification timelines.
- Assist in the preparation of safety reports, audits, and compliance documentation for internal and external inspection.
- Support the Safety and Insurance Department with the organization of audits, meetings, and inspections to ensure all paperwork is completed and filed timely.
- Assist in the administration related to safety manuals, policy updates, and/or training sessions.
- Coordinate safety communication efforts, including distributing alerts, newsletters, and other updates to management and employees.
- Provide administrative support to safety-related initiatives, including data entry, document preparation, and general office organization.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Occupational Health/Safety, or related fields (preferred).
- Experience in administrative support, preferably within safety or compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
