General Description
The Sales Manager is accountable to develop and execute strategic plans that attain corporate revenue growth and profitability goals.
General Stamping & Metalworks is a growing organization responding to a changing market. It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be flexible to respond as needed.
Organizational Relationships and Authority
The Sales Manager reports directly to the GSM President and collaborates extensively with the all team members to goals. Direct reports are likely to include:
- Strategic Account Manager
- Estimators
Key Responsibilities and Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Sales Manager is to drive growth through effective customer relationship, process management and leadership of team.
Additional activities include:
- Develops sales targets and creates influencing campaigns based on growth goals and equipment capacity
- Travels to customer/prospect sites to understand customer needs and sales opportunities
- Promotes capabilities and identifies areas for possible expansion
- Provides an organizational structure that reflects current and long term sales needs
- Develops systems that maintain relevant customer information and processes in accordance with ISO standards.
- Develops best practices for opportunity tracking that includes selling metrics (Win/loss, Growth Opportunities etc.)
- Ensures commitments to our customers are delivered
- Collaborates with Strategic Account Managers and CFO to develop pricing strategies
- Develops clear and objective criteria for developing, improving, and promoting employees based on performance measures that are behaviorally anchored
- Accurately prepares, maintains or authorizes sales expenses
- Engages with team to win business, improve process as needed

Qualifications and Competencies
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a strong ability to be attentive to detail, results driven, and the ability to keep accurate records. They must possess excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability to produce written documents that are free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors.
As a leader in the company, the Sales Manager must maintain an optimistic attitude in helping the customer reach important goals without sacrificing GSM’s profitability. In addition, they must maintain the strictest confidence regarding all issues and information regarding the company’s owner, its operations and employees, financial matters, and personal matters of which the employee may become aware in the course of their work.
Due to the intense communication component of this position, the individual will also develop and maintain competency with the following programs and equipment:
- Microsoft Office suite
- Laptop, tablet and/or desktop computer
- Cellular and office telephone system
- ERP and estimating systems

Education
- Bachelor of Administration, Marketing or English Literature (preferred)
Experience
- Minimum of recent three years as a Sales Manager where annual sales exceeded $100M with responsibility for generating and cultivating prospects to become customers
- Experience coaching or participating in a sports team is preferred
