Assistant Teacher
Teacher must possess the ability to: - Foster a positive and nurturing environment for children; - Effectively and professionally communicate with parents, fellow teachers, and a variety of other professionals; - Effectively plan and facilitate engaging and developmentally enhancing activities for children of varying ages and developmental levels; - Recognize and respond to children’s developmental needs and document developmental progress. - Work well with cooperating teacher.
Personal qualities necessary: Patient, observant, team-oriented, highly self-directed and enthusiastic, diplomatic, developed leadership skills, warm and nurturing, multifaceted interests, life-long learner, etc.
Required Qualifications: Seeking an individual with at least NCECC I and II or a willingness to pursue .
Education; A minimum of 1 year of early childhood experience preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities: - Thoughtfully and reflectively observe and document children’s interests as well as their growth and development over time via documentation panels, Creative Curriculum Assessment tools, and portfolio assessment. - Assist lead teacher in designing a classroom environment that supports best practices in early childhood education by exuding cleanliness and order, adhering to licensing regulations, promoting health and safety, encouraging parent involvement, and meeting children’s needs and interests. - Assist lead teacher in utilizing the outdoor environment to support children’s interests and development. - Assist in planning and facilitating developmentally enhancing activities for children based on observed interests and developmental needs. - Communicate regularly with parents about daily classroom activities and children’s interests. - Maintain attendance forms as well as sign-in/sign-out information. - Maintain updated medication forms for sunscreen, diaper rash cream, fever reducer, and other medications. - Record point of service meal counts at each meal served. - Other duties as described.
Other Requirements: Must pursue continuing education credits each year to maintain employment and acquire various required trainings as necessary.
Hours are 8:00 am-5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Generous benefit package included.
