LOAN PROCESSING TEAM LEAD

An employee in this position will assist the Director of Loan Operations by managing daily workflows, monitoring the processing que and serving as the initial point of contact regarding loans in process in addition to all Loan Processing responsibilities. This employee will actively manage the incoming file assignment and monitor the processing progress to completion to meet SLAs. This lead employee will mentor other loan processing specialists in the department by being approachable, supportive, and maintaining a positive attitude while finding solutions that align with the bank's core values. This team lead is expected to adhere to all company policies and procedures.

What does a Loan Processing Team Lead do?
The specific duties/responsibilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

  • Mentor new and existing loan processors.
  • Train loan processing staff on job responsibilities and provide oversight of daily performance.
  • Serve as first point of contact for all processing questions.
  • Performs all responsibilities of the Loan Processing Specialist and provides coverage of daily department responsibilities when volumes are high, and/or when staff is out due to illness or vacations.
  • Conduct pre-close loan review.
  • Establish and maintain communication and quality customer services with branches.
  • Create and maintain training manuals of processes and procedures.
  • Monitor the processing que to ensure SLAs are met/exceeded.
  • Provide monthly tracking reports to Director of Loan Operations.
  • Monitor loan processor's daily workflow, timing deadlines, quality of work, and provide adequate resolutions to problems. Continually monitor errors and loan reprints to direct best practices and prevent inaccuracies within loan documents.
  • Maintain knowledge of loan policy, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements
  • Assist in daily pipeline management by monitoring timelines, loan approvals, and projection to close reports.
  • Serve as liaison on compliance related items between branches and compliance officer.
  • Serve as system administrator for loan platform and work with vendors when necessary.
  • Interact with management team to establish and support best practices and procedures.
  • Assist Director of Loan Operations in identifying training needs, schedule 3rd party compliance training when applicable.
  • Provide support for the Director of Loan Operations when he/she is unavailable or out of the office.
  • Assist with internal and external audit, loan review, and branch training.
  • Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The position of Loan Processing Team Lead will oversee the daily responsibilities of loan processing and help guide staff on meeting SLAs and objectives. This employee may be asked to participate in interviews and candidate selection as well as provide feedback on employee performance. The Team Lead will be responsible for the onboarding and continued training of all loan processing employees

Additional Details

This full-time, non-exempt position reports to Director of Loan Operations. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8-5, with occasional overtime hours. The working arrangement is on-site.

What are the Requirements?

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - you must have these to be considered for this role:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 3 or more years of loan processing or loan assistant experience.
  • Ability to perform the essential physical and mental demands of the job as listed in the attached "Full Job Description.".

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - if you have these you will stand out:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Experience, knowledge and training in progressively responsible branch or department operations, management.
  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and bank accounting policies and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational and time management with the ability to work independently.
  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; host computer system; FedLine, word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Current driver's license and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive while performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Effective communication skills - speaking, listening (active), and written.
  • Teamwork orientation and an interest/capacity in cultivating strong working relationships.
