What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Technician position at Generator Source?
Generator Source is the leading generator service provider that buys, sells, and services new and used industrial power generation equipment throughout the world.
The company is located in Jacksonville, Florida and has been in the power generation industry for over 40 years. Our focus is on commercial and industrial generators for standby, prime and emergency power from top name brands like Cummins, Caterpillar, Kohler, Generac, MTU, and more.
YARD ASSISTANT
What You’ll Do:
- Preparing and cleaning generator sets.
- Maintain and organize the yard, ensuring equipment and materials are stored properly.
- Assist in loading and unloading generators, parts, and other heavy equipment.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and cleaning.
- Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
- Help with light fabrication work, including cutting, grinding, and basic welding.
- Assist technicians with various shop tasks as needed.
- Follow all safety procedures and help maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Prior experience in a yard, warehouse, or industrial setting preferred.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to learn fabrication techniques (grinding, cutting, minor welding).
- Ability to lift 60 lbs and work in outdoor conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a team-oriented mindset.
