What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor/Lab Coordinator of Veterinary Technology (INTERNAL ONLY) - Genesee Community College position at Genesee Community College?
GENERAL FUNCTIONS:
Teach courses and labs in veterinary technology. Assist in recruitment, retention, and graduation of students and in other college and departmental efforts.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teach courses such as Veterinary Clinic Calculations, Animal Anatomy & Physiology, Clinical laboratory techniques, small, large and lab animal techniques in labs at the Batavia campus, campus centers, in our concurrent enrollment programs and/or in a distant learning format, and any other facilities used by the Vet Tech program, as needed.
Responsible for inventory control, purchasing, receiving, and maintaining equipment and supplies in facilities and labs used by the Vet Tech program.
Provide leadership in maintaining safe, efficient, and modern veterinary technology labs.
Along with other faculty, provide leadership in the review, development, assessment, and maintenance of quality veterinary technology curricula and lab facilities. Assist with mentoring of adjunct faculty.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
Licensed Veterinary Technician who graduated from an AVMA accredited program and is currently licensed in NY State. Bachelor's Degree or Associate's in Veterinary Technology.
EXPERIENCE
At least five (5) years of experience in the field is required. College teaching experience is preferred. Familiarity with equipment and supplies used in a veterinary teaching program is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong teaching skills with familiarity in a wide range of instructional strategies and modes of instruction. Familiarity with purchasing and maintaining equipment and supplies in laboratories. Ability to work effectively with community college students, staff, and faculty. Must be able to demonstrate sensitivity to people with diverse backgrounds. Is mindful of and develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals to use GCC facilities without barriers, both digitally and physically.

RELATIONSHIPS:
This is a faculty position and reports to the Director of Veterinary Technology. The faculty member works cooperatively with the department Director and other areas within the college.
SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week with a compensation rate of $50,865.19 annually. Salary, benefits, and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
The faculty member will receive 6 contact hours of release time per academic year to work on inventory control, purchasing, receiving, and maintaining equipment and supplies in facilities and labs used by the Vet Tech program. The person is also expected to help with setting up labs for the program.
